2019 has been a fantastic year for Taste Leitrim with highlights such as the inaugural Leitrim Boxty Festival taking place. This was just one of the many wonderful Taste the Island events held throughout Leitrim.
PJ Rigney and The Shed Distillery launched the first whiskey produced in Connacht in over 100 years. Which sold out as soon as it’s hit the shelves and follows the famous Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin in making waves worldwide.
Just in time for Christmas came news of the purchase of a former IDA factory in Drumshanbo is paving the way for the creation of more than 50 new jobs as part of the first phase of the Leitrim Food Enterprise Zone project.
We also look forward to welcoming Drumanilra to Leitrim next year, as they plan to open “Ireland’s first ever organic, drive-through, fast food from the farm” in Carrick-on-Shannon in 2020.
2020 is looking like it’s going to be an exciting year for the food and drink sector in Ireland, particularly here in County Leitrim. We look forward to being a part of it.
