The Art of Food Photography Masterclass

As part of Local Enterprise Week LEO Leitrim hosted a food photography masterclass for members of Taste Leitrim.

The event was held in The Food Hub, Drumshanbo and food photographer Julia Dunin gave the participants a crash course in the art of food photography.

The first part of the workshop was a talk where Julia went through the basics of photography and editing. She suggested using the Snapseed App for editing photos on a phone or tablet and GIMP for editing on PC. For the professionals out there Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop were recommended.

In the second part of the workshop the producers got to photograph their products using some of the many props that Julia had with her. Less is more was the advice that Julia gave out as some of the participants had quite a lot of props and products in their shots.

Julia told the group to be authentic in their photo shoots; in other words not to add ingredients if they aren’t actually in the food.

It was a really interesting workshop and we seem to have some very good food photographers in Taste Leitrim. We’ll be looking at their posts on Social Media to see if they keep it up.

Thank you to all who came along on the day and of course to Julia for such an interesting workshop.
